It is Monday afternoon and its currently 99F outside. I’ve just finished packing my stuff and loading the moving truck. One step close to Pasadena, CA and the US Center for World Mission. So far I’ve gotten the truck and tow dolly with minimal issue (one tire on the tow dolly leaked air but a call to Penske had a mechanic out in 2 hours to replace the wheel). The loading process went smoothly. One of my helpers made there remark that it was ‘my life in a box’.

When I began considering moving to Texas three years ago my parents began to consider retiring and moving to upstate New York. My sister had moved there 10 years earlier when she got married. The housing market was great and retirement seemed like a good idea. So they retired, sold the house (just weeks before the market started to decline), and moved 10 minutes from my sister.

Last Wednesday I began my trip back to the Northeast. Before getting to New York and Connecticut I made a quick stop in Virginia/D.C. to see friends there.
