MY LITTLE CORNER OF THE INTERNET

A funny thing happened to my To Do list

For the last many months, at least since November, I’ve had projects that needed to be done yesterday. Urbana 2009 DVD, frontiermissionfellowship.org website, Campus community website, Property Services website, and the general maintenance of the other ~10 websites and technology needs I oversee.

Today my task management software went quiet (Ominfocus is my tool of choice). All those projects with tasks and subtasks had a nice ‘check’ next to them. I had completed my part in these, sent off the last update emails and can now wait to make final tweaks before wrapping them up.

So now what? Is there nothing to do? Hardly. The studio needs a lot of straightening up, tapes need to be organized and archived, data backed up, and the other websites I manage need some attention to different degrees. There is always something that needs work, and recently they go to my to do list without a due date. Now I can look those up and start making my way through that list.

This comes at a good time. I have about 4 weeks to take care of many of these ‘when I have time’ tasks. This will basically wrap up phase 1 of my plans here: lay the groundwork for a long term plan. July 1 is when the new Communications Division goes live and with it my Web/Digital Media department. We already have some tentative plans in place, and even bigger plans to make as part of a long term plan. Building off the groundwork that has been laid we’ll be able to really make significant progress and see real growth in our impact. Good stuff is on the way and I’m glad to be able to take it on without a lot of ‘overdue’ notices being tossed my way by my to do list.

Got something to say?
