She did what???

We passed the great hurdle of getting our invitations out last weekend.  However, a rather funny story goes with it.  I have been told delegating is a very important tool in wedding planning.  After addressing all the invites, double and cross checking them with Doug, they were ready for the mail.

I decided to ask my mom to bring them to the post office and get the stamps on them.  I knew I could trust her to treat them like her own child and be careful with them.  However after getting the stamps and walking back out to the car, she tripped off the curb, fell into the street, and dropped all 112 invites into oncoming traffic!!  You can imagine her horror as she was falling.  Save the invites or save myself?  Beyond suffering a banged knee, and scrapped hand, my mom was all right.

The invites also were unharmed and my mom even moved the car forward to double check any had fallen under the car.  When she told me about her adventure that day, my jaw was hanging.  She did what???? Oh my goodness!  I could hardly believe it.  I am glad she didn’t get hurt and thankfully all invites were able to get in the mail.  If you happen to receive an invite with tire tracks across, you now will know why.    I asked my mom if I could share this story, she laughed and said yes.  It is all part of our adventure of wedding planning.  Thought you all might get a chuckle out of it. 

This afternoon is my family wedding shower, thrown by my aunt’s.  Despite the rain, I hope everyone will be able to get there okay.  Doug’s mom is also visiting this week which adds to the fun.
